Licensing in Birmingham
In 2023, regulations surrounding the licensing governing privated rented accommodation changed. This resulted in rented property in many Birmingham boroughs requiring a Selective License.
Why has this been implemented?
Selective licensing is designed to enhance the private rental market by ensuring that properties meet a certain standard before they can be rented out by landlords.
It also provides tenants with reassurance that homes in designated areas will be safe and healthy to live in.
Is it difficult to get a license?

How much do Selective Licenses cost?
Selective Licenses currently cost £700. Our fees for applying for a Selective License are £250 and last for five years. The License must be renewed every five years.
